Fancy Name Generator

Type a name and pick a symbol: each of the fourteen rows shows the name in one letter style with the symbol around it, ready to copy for a post, a caption or a bio.

Symbol around the name

How each result is put together

Each row takes the name you typed, without any space before or after it, and changes its letters into one style.

Then the symbol you picked goes around the whole name, not around each word. A star symbol or a heart symbol stands at both ends, with a space between it and the name. A pair of brackets opens before the first character and closes after the last, with no space.

With the box empty, the rows show the sample, Your Name. Copy puts one row on your clipboard as plain text.

Fourteen letter styles for a stylish name

The rows are the fourteen styles of the fancy text generator that only replace characters, have a character of their own for each of the 52 letters from A to Z and a to z, leave punctuation as typed, and put no character with the Unicode Emoji property in place of a letter or a digit.

For a bold name style there are six rows: Bold, Bold Italic, Bold Cursive, Bold Gothic, Sans Bold and Sans Bold Italic.

Digits change in five of the fourteen (Bold, Double-Struck, Monospace, Sans Bold and Sans) and stay as typed in the other eight; in Parenthesized, 1 to 9 change and 0 stays as typed.

Whatever is not one of those letters or a digit stays as typed in every row: a letter typed with its accent as one character, a letter of another alphabet, a space, a hyphen, an apostrophe.

The style pages for Bold, Italic, Cursive, Gothic and Monospace name the Unicode characters of eleven of the fourteen.

The list of all 107 styles shows every style of the generator, each with a sample.

Nine symbols: stars, hearts and brackets

The symbols are Unicode characters from three of the site's symbol lists: three star symbols, three heart symbols and three pairs of bracket symbols. A pair counts as one symbol here.

All of them are in the Unicode block Dingbats, the one block in which all three lists have characters. From each list they are the first three in code point order that are in that block and do not have the Unicode Emoji property: for the stars and the hearts, characters whose Unicode name has the word STAR or HEART; for the brackets, an opening character and the closing one that follows it. Three is the number of heart symbols that meet the rule, so each list gives three.

None of these characters is one that a style of the fancy text generator adds to text.
