Cursive C

A capital C and a small c stand on this page, as one font draws them, with the same c in confetti and in seismic below. The two letters have the same shape. The small c looks like the small o and the small e of that font, and the page says where it differs from each.

Cursive C c

Print practice sheet

The small c tops out at the x-height and the capital C at the cap height. Measured from the baseline, the small letter rises 0.51 as far as the capital, about half. Both letters stay on the baseline. In width the small c is 0.57 of the capital.

Capital C, a single line

The capital C is a single curved line. It is open on the right, and it never loops or meets itself, so it encloses no space.

Its upper end is a blunt tip at the upper right, a little below the cap height. Beyond that tip the line arches up to the cap height. It goes on to form the whole left side of the letter and rounds along the baseline.

The lower end rises at the right and stops roughly midway up to the x-height. The point furthest left on the curve lies between the baseline and the x-height, lower than the middle of the letter.

Small c, a round back

The small c is one curved line too. It fits between the baseline and the x-height and is open on the right, with no enclosed space.

The upper end comes over the top and dips to a blunt tip at the right, a little under the x-height. The lower end curls up at the right and stops about a third of the way from the baseline to the x-height. So the opening between the two ends faces right, and the point furthest left is on the round back of the curve.

One curve, both ends on the right

The capital C and the small c do not differ in shape. Each is an open curve, and both of its ends are on the right.

Confetti, starch and seismic

Ten words below hold the small c. Confetti opens with it, starch has it between r and h, and seismic closes with it after an i.

Small o and small e

The small c is close to two more of this font's small letters.

The small o has the same slanted oval shape, and it too fills the space between the baseline and the x-height. Its oval closes fully. The small c stays open on its right side.

The small e is open on the right as well, and the two letters end with the same curve, which sweeps along the baseline and up. The upper half is where they differ. The small e has a closed loop there and a line coming in from the lower left. The small c has a short hook at the top and no loop.
